Vicki Igbokwe trained at Middlesex University graduating with a BA in Community Dance and has a Masters in Cultural Leadership from City University. She is the Creative Director and Choreographer for Uchenna Dance and is founder of the Company.

Independently, she works as a Movement Director, Choreographer, Mass Movement Choreographer, Associate Director, Facilitator Teacher and Visiting Lecturer. She is a Trustee for One Dance UK, the sector support organisation for dance, a Workplace artist at The Place (Associate Artist), the UK’s premiere centre for contemporary dance, and a facilitator for the Future Innovators East London Dance (Fi.ELD) programme, developing the future innovators of dance.

She works throughout the UK and abroad with dance / theatre companies and organisations, dance institutions, people and venues. Past and present clients include Kingston University, Middlesex University, Wac Arts, The University of East London, Rafael Bonachela, Luca Silvestrini, Jeanefer Jean-Charles, Dawn Walton, Sadler’s Wells, The South Bank Centre, New Adventures, Tanzhaus Nrw Dusseldorf, Nike UK, Ireland and Europe, Jack Morton Worldwide, Five Currents and World-Wide Shows.


As Director/Choreographer Uchenna Dance Vicki’s dance credits include: Our Mighty Groove (UK tour); The Head Wrap Diaries (UK tour); Hansel & Gretel (UK tour); The Head Wrap Diaries – Fierce and Free (Sadler’s Wells and The Lowry – Main stage).

As Associate Director and Choreographer: Provok’d (Guildhall School of Music and Drama).

As Movement Director: The Gift (Eclipse Theatre Co UK tour); A Kind of People (Royal Court Theatre); (The Woods(Royal Court Theatre); The Princess and The Hustler (Eclipse Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and Hull Truck Theatre), The Tale of Little Bevan (Pentabus Theatre).

As Movement Director and Choreographer: Red Dust Road (National Theatre of Scotland and HOME Manchester); Mid Life (Diverse City, UK Tour); Seven Ages of Patience – A Friendly Society (Kiln Theatre).

Other credits include: A five year sponsorship deal with Nike working as Sponsored Dance Athlete and Master Trainer for the Nike Rockstar Workout (2005-2010); Sadler’s Wells Wild Card Curator and Artist (Between The Lines, 2013); Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD) – now One Dance UK – Trailblazer (2007-2008), and Trailblazer CHAMPION (2012-2013).
